Two elected school board members take oath of office

Dr. Traci Pierce, Superintendent, swore in two elected school board members on Dec. 4. Mark Stuart is starting his second term. Cassandra Sage is beginning her first term, replacing retired board member Nancy Bernard.

EHS sophomore has been named a 2018 YoungArts Finalist in dance and is eligible to attend YoungArts Week in Miami in January. JHS senior was recognized with a YoungArts Merit Award in Visual Arts and is eligible to participate in a regional YoungArts event.

Beginning Band sign-ups and information will come out in the fall. Be looking for information to come home with your students the first week of school. The Beginning Band teachers will be visiting each of the RMS feeder schools that first week. There will also be a Beginning Band Information Night. That usually runs the same night as the Orchestra Information Night. That date has not been set yet. If you do not receive information by the end of the first week of school, please feel free to contact Don Furness at Redmond Middle School: DFurness@lwsd.org.

Rehearsal Schedule

2015-2016 Weekly Rehearsal Schedule (Beginning the Week of September 21) :

  • Monday: 2nd year students, full band
  • Tuesday: 1st year students, trumpet and clarinet
  • Wednesday: 2nd year students, full band
  • Thursday: 1st year students, flute, trombone/baritone
  • Friday: 1st year students, full band
Benefits of Playing an Instrument In addition to having fun creating music with friends, meeting new friends, and getting to take trips as you get older, music also helps your brain. It will make you a better student and achieving better test scores. Watch this video.
