Two years of a world language is a requirement for high school graduation. You may use your 8th grade world language to meet the first year of this requirement.
Note: WA state offers a World Language Competency test. This test is administered to students when they are in high school. Depending upon your level, you can earn up to four high school world language credits through this test. More information about “World Language Credit by Proficiency” can be found here: https://www.lwsd.org/students-families/students/high-school-guide/world-language-credit-by-proficiency

8th Graders
RHS 2025-2026 Registration for Current RMS Students:
In January, Redmond High School counselors will be visiting 8th grade science classrooms to share high school course registration information, directions, and answer questions.
- 1/16: Day 1 presentation of information
Day 1, they will provide a general presentation about high school courses and options to consider when picking classes for registration. Day 1 will also provide time for students to ask RHS counselors specific questions about high school, class choices, graduation, etc.
- 1/23: Day 2 course request submission
Day 2, students should come to class prepared to enter their 9th grade course requests into Skyward. There will not be another opportunity for students to change their course requests, so please be thoughtful about your course choices!
8th grade families, RHS will share their presentation, registration materials and tools with you prior to visiting your student on day 1. In the week between day 1 and day 2 of registration, students should spend time talking with their teachers and families to identify courses they would like to request for 9th grade.
Please know:
- The courses that a student requests during registration are not guaranteed courses they will have in their schedule. RHS does their best to build student schedules that include most, if not all, of a student's requests. A student's schedule will always be a combination of classes that allows them to make positive graduation progress.
- We encourage students to be thoughtful in requesting a balance of classes so their freshman year is not too academically heavy and students are able to learn the ropes of high school and practice successful habits.
-
- After registration, RHS does not allow students to change courses. They do not have a schedule change opportunity during the school year. We build our schedule and run classes based on student course requests made during registration.
